Cuban Talks
American/Cuban relations seem to be reaching new heights, as a delegation of Democratic Congress-members arrived in Havana a few days ago to meet with Fidel and Raul Castro. Their objective is to lift travel restrictions for Cuban Americans, as well as increasing the financial compensations that family members are allowed to send back home. The issue regarding the trade embargo has yet to garner much attention, and even if it did, it is uncertain whether or not the delegation’s goal to end the embargo reflects the aspirations of the Obama Administration. Until Hillary is in Havana, don’t expect any significant policy reforms.
