God Made Me Do It.

A verdict has been reached in the trial of Vince Li. Last year, Li stabbed and beheaded a passenger aboard a Greyhound bus in Manitoba. He was found not guilty of second degree murder, because as a schizophrenic, lawyers and psychiatrists argued that criminal sentencing is not appropriate for an individual who has a severe mental disorder. According to Li, God made him do it. The victim, Tim McLean, was apparently a force of evil, while Li claimed that he was acting in self defense and simply responded to God’s command.

Now where did we hear this before? I believe it was a former U.S President, who claimed that he took his country to war with God’s Guidance. The devastating implications are of course greater in the case of the ladder, especially when the decisions of a Head of State can have grave consequences internationally. Nonetheless, the former will likely spend years in rehabilitation under strict confinement, while the ladder is free to party with his oil buddies in Texas.
